I shot these images during one of the kitesurfing charter of catamaran Kawai in the Grenadines, with a canon camera G11. No HD therefore, but they are sufficient to give you a good idea of
the kitesurf spot of the Tobago Cays as well as wind conditions in high season.
Kitesurf in the Tobago Cays
The lagoon of the Tobago Cays is a perfect spot for the practice of kite surfing.
First of all, a stop there is unavoidable during your cruise. This natural reserve of five mile by ten is the cradle of a flora and fauna without equal in the West Indies. You can swim with the
sea turtles, sting rays and a crowd of reef fish each more colorful than the other. It is enough to get to the water.
The lagoon itself is constituted of a coral reef of four kilometers in diameter and four small islands named Petit Bateau, Petit Rameau, Baradal and Jamesby. The barrier reef brake the long
swell of the open sea and let past the trade wind from north-east, who breath permanently to the West Indies.
The decor is just magical, the laminar wind and the plan of water protected from the swell of the ocean. You navigate in a gradient of blue worthy of the most beautiful lagoons of the world.
Kitesurf and season
The best season to practice kitesurfing extends from December to May. The alize is blowing, sometimes strong, generally between 15 and 25 knots continuously.
Kitesurf charter in the Grenadines
During your cruise, you do sail not only to Tobago Cays, Grenadines do not lack spots of quality for the practice of kite surfing. They are usually all on the same principle: plan of water
houses behind a barrier reef and laminar wind buzzer, the wind from the main island.
The principal ones are located on the islands of Mayreau, Union, Morpion, Carriacou and Sandy Island. They all offer the chance to get out on the open sea and often to go play with the waves
that rise on the barrier reef ... Has you to play!
